The analyses of greenhouse gas mitigation conducted for the twelfth Stanford Energy Modeling Forum (EMF) have produced a large body of results that is of great potential value for the formation of efficient climate policy. In this paper, we review some of these results, as well as the results of other research on the costs of mitigating emissions of greenhouse gases, in order to draw some lessons for the design and implementation of carbon dioxide (CO₂) mitigation policy.
