Challenges and opportunities for estimating the global economic impacts of climate change.
Estimating the global economic impacts of climate change is technically and scientifically challenging, requiring characterization and projection of potential global economic and physical systems for centuries. Recent IPCC reports and social cost of carbon developments have facilitated and forced assessment of current underlying scientific knowledge and translation of that information, as well as identified scientific challenges. This one-day session is an opportunity to discuss the state of the art, characterize key challenges, and together, identify research priorities for estimating the potential global economic impacts of future climate change.
